The Final Countdown
So that's the final "big" walk under my belt. Sis and I completed 27 km in the sweltering heat and our Walk the Walk tee-shirts (which attracted a fair bit of attention!). We made our customary stop at Friend's house, for tea and straight- out -of -the -oven flapjacks, which were very morale-boosting. We considered a detour via the nearest neighbour's house, where a fundraising Open Garden weekend was being held and some lovely African fans were on sale. However, we were already a little behind schedule at that point and didn't want to prolong things too much...
I'd been the day before to have a look at the beautiful garden and make a contribution to "Les Enfants de Bamako". The organiser had made some lovely bags and lavender pouches and her daughters had printed up some beautiful cards ......so I couldn't resist!
Some great live music was also provided, much appreciated by the children....
and much fun was had with the garden toys....
All rounded off with a very tasty picnic.
So, very little time to recover from the weekend's exertions and back into a week of running between schools and getting to grips with the French love of admin, coupled with a very cumbersome Education structure of organisations that don't actually speak to each other, even though they all do essentially the same thing. Welcome to modern France. And it's exam time.........and there's a concert to prepare for Friday.
Not too much in the way of side effects from the walking. We dosed ourselves up with Arnica granules and liberally applied Arnica massage oil, which seemed to do the trick. Now we have to make sure we can get it onto the plane with us to Edinburgh......tickets are booked, hotel organised, clothes sorted! Just a bit more sponsorship needed.......and maybe a little more training!
